When it comes to boats, whether pleasure or commercial, Pierre has seen it all. As a liveaboard himself for now more than 20 years, he understands the importance of proper housekeeping and maintenance.
Since 2000, he has operated within the marine industry at different levels. His experience led him to manage big commercial projects for the Artic Research Foundation and manage a fleet of 12 vessels for Peace Navigation.
Whether you're in need of consultation, or a survey, Pierre has your back and will truly make the survey process seamless so you can get back on the water.
Mike Fortin
Marine Surveyor
Marine Consultant
A.M.S.B.C. Member No 186
Mike Fortin retired as a Petty Officer Second Class after more than 12 years of service in the Royal Canadian Navy, specializing in marine communications and systems. Having also lived aboard his own vessels for over 11 years, Mike brings both professional and firsthand experience to the marine industry.
His connection to boats began early, from working for his grandfather’s marine maintenance company in Ontario as a teenager, serving in the navy, to being an active member of the BC sailing community for more than a decade, he's spent his entire adult life working around boats and on the water.
For the past seven years, Mike has worked closely under Pierre’s mentorship on a wide range of commercial and pleasure craft projects. His experience includes electrical overhauls, full vessel refits, fiberglass repairs and upgrades, and complete electronic suite installations. He has also managed multiple commercial projects alongside Pierre for organizations such as the Arctic Research Foundation and Peace Navigation.
Mike specializes in marine communication systems, electronics integration, lithium battery systems, and ensuring electrical systems meet ABYC safety and compliance standards.
Whether you are planning a major project, looking for expert consultation, or need a thorough and detailed marine survey of your vessel or a vessel you’re considering purchasing, Mike is ready to help guide you every step of the way.
